Past Trainings
Exploring the Kleshas and Gunas:
How we overcome the obstacles that cause suffering and create more balance in our lives.
The Details
Curious what the kleshas and gunas are all about? Dive into this ancient wisdom in yoga philosophy as we explore the kleshas, the gunas, and their interconnectedness.
According to Patanjali’s sutras, the kleshas are the obstacles to our spiritual growth and the reasons why we suffer. While on the other hand, the gunas represent the three fundamental qualities of our nature and all things. Through exploring the gunas we will gain insights into our thought patterns and tendencies.
This workshop aims to not only educate you on these two core concepts, but to also deepen your yoga practice, your knowledge of yoga philosophy, and foster your well-being in everyday life. Don’t miss this chance to discover how to overcome obstacles and cultivate positive qualities that can lead to a more harmonious and fulfilling life.
Qualifications
This training is open to anyone interested in yoga philosophy (you do not need to be a yoga teacher!). If you are a yoga teacher, this training will count towards 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training with Flow Yoga Studio or 25 hours of continuing education credits with Yoga Alliance.
We have planned interactive sessions together incorporating lecture, asana practice, discussion, group work, journaling, reading and reflection.
*Training will be held at Flow Yoga Studio in HoHoKus.
The Yamas & Niyamas:
A Deeper Look
Living the Yogic Philosophy – taking yoga off the mat.
Applying the yamas and niyamas, the ancient moral and ethical guidelines of yoga, to our lives today with the goal of decreasing suffering and increasing peace.
The Details
If you’re looking to live a more yogic lifestyle and incorporate the principles of the yamas and niyamas into your daily life, join me for an empowering workshop. The yamas and niyamas are foundational yogic teachings that help us understand the world around us and how we can live a more peaceful and fulfilling life; a more enlightened life with less suffering.
As yoga teachers, it is our responsibility to lead by example and practice yoga more than one hour of asana per day. In this 25-hour module, we will dive deep into the yamas and niyamas, the moral and ethical guidelines in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras; offering the opportunity to live a more yogic lifestyle. We will examine each yama and niyama individually, as we review various interpretations through books, presentations and discussion. We will take each of the ancient and sacred guidelines and interpret their meaning into our modern world and lives today.
This Yoga Alliance Certified training will include a yoga asana practice each day, lecture and discussion around yoga philosophy and how to apply these moral and ethical guidelines to our everyday lives.
Qualifications
This training is open to anyone looking to dive deeper into yoga philosophy through the yamas & niyamas (not only yoga teachers!). If you are a yoga teacher, this training will count towards a 300-hour Advanced Teacher Training with Flow Yoga Studio.

Patanjali’s Sutras
Join us as we journey through The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success: According to Deepak Chopra
